David Hockney

David Hockney is undoubtedly one of the most influential masters in today’s international painting world. Born in England in 1937, he was admitted to the Bradford School of Art in 1953 and studied painting for two years before he went to the Royal College of Art in London for further study and was awarded the Kinross Prize of the College. In 1963, he held a solo exhibition at the Kasmin Limited.
Influenced by modernism, David Hockney has produced a number of etchings, among which A Rake’s Progress is the most outstanding and has been valued by the art world. After several trips to the United States in the 1960s, he began to move towards the realistic style. The masterpieces Christopher Isherwood and Don Bachardy and Mr and Mrs Clark and Percy contain profound philosophies and leave people to endless aftertastes.
