Gabriele Di Matteo was born in Torre del Greco, Italy in 1957, and now lives and works in Milan, Italy.
Di Matteo’s oeuvre is developed in a collaborative fashion with other artists, copyists, commercial painters. He doesn’t understand his work as one of a “studio painter” but more likely, as a painter-director. Gabriele Di Matteo won the prix Saatchi and Saatchi in 1989. His works have been exhibited at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in France, Art-Basel Unlimited in Switzerland, Federico Luger Gallery in Italy, and the ZKM Karlsruhe in Germany.
